Mercedes' hot and cold aircon

Question : I'm 20, female and I know nothing about cars. Recently, my Mercedes E220 Masterpiece, 1995 has some problem related to the aircon. It seems to shut off and switch on by itself. Whenever I switch it on, it does not work and I have to sweat, and sometimes, at the end of the journey, it switches on by itself. Does it have a problem with the thermostat? What's the difference between the upgraded and the original Mercedes.
Answer : I think you have a problem with the thermostatic switch of the air conditioner. This is fitted inside the evaporator assembly and is connected to your temperature control. It is supposed to work within a certain temperature range, but in your case, it switches off the compressor and does not come on for a long time, hence there is a problem, and it may have to be replaced. To your second question, I cannot answer it, as it is not specific enough. Anyway, very often, upgrades are different from model to model and can be anything from cosmetic to complete mechanical changes
